Visa Application Information:
To be eligible to apply students must be selected by the partner university (and should open to other university students in Vietnam).
Have successfully completed at least one term of university courses, students who have already graduated from university are also eligible.
Applications are reviewed by joint CityU advisor and Partner School staff.
Obtaining I-20:
Proof of funding document: An original letter or statement from a student or student’s family’s financial institution, verifying funds on deposit sufficient to cover the full cost of the program as stated on the Declaration of Finance. A sample Proof of Funding document will be made available upon admission to the program. The original document must be sent to CityU ISO office. The office cannot accept documents sent by email or fax. It is recommended that the student request two originals of this document: one to submit to CityU and one to bring with them to their appointment at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Current Passport Photocopy: A photocopy of the identification page(s) of the student’s passport, sent to the Summer Session Office via mail or express courier service. Students should include this with their Proof of Funding document.
Additional information regarding the process of obtaining an I-20 will be sent to students once they have been offered admission to the program.
Obtaining an F-1 Student Visa:
Once a student receives their I-20 from CityU, the following items must be completed in order to obtain an F-1 Student Visa:
Go to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) SEVIS I-901 website to pay the SEVIS fee to the U.S. Government and obtain a receipt.
At your visa appointment (or U.S. Port of Entry), be sure to present the following items:
- Original I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant)
- I-901 SEVIS Fee Receipt
- Application fee payment receipt (if you are required to pay before your interview)
- Valid Passport
- CityU Program Admission Letter
- Original Proof of Funding Document
- 2 Passport Size Photos
